Prayer: The most important act of a believer

What is the greatest joy of a believer in the life of the world?

Prayer: The most important act of a believer:- It can be seen that each person enjoys different things. Everyone is interested in different things. Someone is traveling. Someone is good at some food. Someone is chatting. Someone reads a book. Some small-big and various other works. In this list there are things that are necessary for living, as well as there are things that are very harmful to life. There are things that have no profit or loss, and there are also many things that are unnecessary.

This difference in people’s tastes is only individual. Differences are normal.

Food is considered most important for sustaining life. How many differences in the likes and dislikes of people all over the world in this food! How much difference in everyone’s interests and dislikes! Children of the same mother, raised together, living in the same house. However, both of them are interested in two foods. Both are happy about two different things.

These differences are sometimes for personal reasons. Sometimes for family reasons. Sometimes due to partner or environment.

That’s why studying becomes a matter of interest and pleasure for someone. someone’s writing Someone’s prayer, remembrance, recitation of the Qur’an and charity!

At first it may sound a little unusual. But if you think a little, you will understand that even in these people can get pleasure. People may also be interested in these. Even having that interest is very normal.

The importance of prayer

What should be the greatest interest, joy and satisfaction of a man as a believer?

First there must be something good. Should be a truly desirable subject. Then he should resort to the Quran and Hadith to know which of those good and desirable things is the most important to him.

In the Qur’an, while identifying the believer-muttaki, prayer is mentioned after faith. Referred to-

(Muttaqi stars,) those who believe in the unseen. Establishing prayer and spending (in deeds pleasing to Allah) of what We have given them. – Surah Baqarah (2): 3

It is worth noting that Allah Ta’ala sent revelations to the Prophet (peace be upon him) to teach faith. And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered to pray with the sky above. He crossed the seven heavens and gave this great important gift and worship to Allah. This was not the case with any other worship. So it goes without saying that this worship is very important. Even in that worship lies the great success of the believer. That is why in the Qur’an, while introducing the successful believer, it is said first-

Those who are humble in prayer. – Surah Muminun (23): 2

After mentioning a few more qualities, it is said again at the end-

Those who care about prayer. – Surah Muminun (23): 9

In another place, Allah Ta’ala first said about human nature and mood:

In fact, man was created with a small mind. When any trouble touches him, he becomes extremely restless. And when he is touched by Swachanda, he becomes very miserable. But except the praying people. Those who perform their prayers regularly. – Surah Maarij (70): 19-23

Here, first of all, prayer is mentioned in the context of the qualities that can be achieved beyond the human’s natural weakness. After mentioning several qualities, he again said-

And those who are absolutely careful about their prayers. They will be in Paradise. respectfully – Surah Maarij (70): 34-35

Benefits of prayer

Allah Ta’ala says about the benefits of prayer:

Establish prayer at both ends of the day and parts of the night. Verily, the virtue of virtue removes the sin of evil. It is an admonition for those who accept it. – Surah Hud (11): 114

From this it is understood that prayer removes many sins.

Also mentioned-

And establish the prayer. Indeed, prayer prevents from indecent and wrongdoing. – Surah Ankabut (29): 45

In other words, if you keep praying, this prayer will keep people away from obscene and unjust actions.

In addition, Allah Ta’ala instructs to accept prayer as a medium to ask for help and support and says:

Seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, prayer seems difficult; But not for those who perform it with khushoo (meaning modesty and attention). – Surah Baqarah (2): 45

Here, in exchange for patience and prayer, there is a firm assurance of Allah’s favor and help.

Negligence in prayer

As the prayers are praised in the Qur’an, there are threats and warnings against those who neglect the prayers. Allah Rabbul Alamin has said:

Destruction is for the worshipers who neglect their prayers. – Surah Ma’un (107): 4-5

He even referred to the laziness of prayer as a sign of the hypocrites.

When they stand in prayer they stand lazily. – Surah Nisa (4): 142

In Surah Maryam, after referring to His favored and close servants, Allah says:

Then they were replaced by people who destroyed the prayer and followed the desires of the senses. So they will soon face the consequences of going astray. – Surah Maryam (19): 59

The topic of prayer in Hadith Sharif

In the Hadith Sharif, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also spoke about prayer with the highest importance. Referred to-

The main subject of religion is Islam. Its pillar is prayer. And its peak is Jihad. – Jame Tirmidhi, Hadith 2616

Here prayer is called the pillar of Islam. The importance of poles in any infrastructure is easy to imagine.

Basically, prayer is the first after faith. That is why the Quran-Hadith repeatedly mentions the first prayer after faith. The first thing in the hereafter is prayer. It is mentioned in Hadith Sharif-

On the Day of Judgment, among the deeds of the servant, the first account will be taken of the prayer. -Jamee Tirmidhi, Hadith 417; Sunan Nasa’i, Hadith 466

It was understood that prayer is the most important thing in this world as well as in the hereafter. Even a final warning has been uttered in this regard-

Prayer: The most important act of a believer

Indeed, the difference between a man and kufr-shirk is prayer. – Sahih Muslim, Hadith 82

Negligence in this period is a great injustice, but good deeds and rewards are also great if done properly. Through this, the sins of the servant are washed away. Referred to-

The parable of the five daily prayers is like a great river flowing in front of the door of one of your (houses). So that he bathes five times a day. – Sahih Muslim, Hadith 664

The hadith is in more detail elsewhere. It is asked that if he bathes five times in this way, can there be any dirt in his body? can’t then said-

Surely prayer removes sins as water removes impurities from the body. -Sunan Nasa’i, Hadith 1397

That is, if you pray regularly, the prayer will be pure and free from sins. But if the poets are guilty, they must ask for forgiveness through repentance. Referred to-

The five daily prayers, from one Friday to another, and from one Ramadan to another Ramadan, expiates all sins in between. The poets are without sin. -Sahih Muslim, Hadith 233

Encouraging companions to pray

Hazrat Rabi’a Ibn Ka’b Al-Aslami RA. He said, I spent the night with the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace. Then I came to him with ablution water and necessary things. He said, ask me for something.

I said, I desire your company in Paradise.

He said, besides anything else?

I said, this is what I want. He said-

So help me in this matter by offering more Sijda (prayer). -Sahih Muslim, Hadith 489

That is, through prostration and prayer, the status of the servant increases a lot.

Once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Sawban:

Sajdah to Allah the Most High. Indeed, once you prostrate to Allah Ta’ala, He increases your status and forgives you a sin. -Sahih Muslim, Hadith 488

Prophet’s prayer

Ammajan Ayesha. said-

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray at night. (He would pray so long that) both his feet would swell. Then Ayesha. He said, O Messenger of Allah! Why do you do this (so much trouble)? Allah has forgiven all your previous sins!

He said, I do not want to be a servant of sugar? -Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 4837

Besides, whenever he was faced with an important matter, he would stand in prayer. It has been described

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to stand in prayer whenever he was faced with an important matter. ÑSunan Abu Dawud, Hadith 1319

The peace and contentment he used to find in prayer is also described. He used to say-

Belal! Arrange prayer. Soothe me through prayer. -Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith 4985

After all he said-

The coolness of my eyes is kept in prayer. -Sunan Nasa’i, Hadith 3940

The importance of prayer to the Companions

As the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave importance to prayer, the same was the condition of the Companions. They loved prayer with all their heart. He considered prayer as the best deed of life. They thought that if the prayer is correct, other activities will be correct. If there is a mistake in prayer, there will be danger of mistakes and neglect in other activities.

Ameerul Mumineen Umar Farooq RA. Once he sent orders to the officials appointed in different cities of the Islamic Caliphate. He wrote there:

The most important thing for me is prayer. A person who is careful about prayer and performs it seriously will safeguard his religion. And whoever wastes the prayer (neglect in prayer) will be more wasteful (negligent) in other matters. -Muatta Malek, Narration 6

Tabiyin and Tabe during the Tabiyin period

Deen learned from Sahaba Keram in Tabeeen Keram. They arranged their lives by seeing the Companions. He has built a life following them. Therefore, the impression of Sahaba Keram has emerged in the midst of Tabeeeen Keram. As in the case of external aspects of life, so also in the case of belief and practice.

The famous Tabiee Sayyid Ibnul Musayyib. Described about-

For forty years the situation was such that the adhan was being called and Saeed Ibnul Musayyib (94 AH) rah. Not in the mosque – this would not have happened. -Hilayatul Auliya 2/163; Kitabus Siqat Ibn Hibban 4/274

Imam Waqi Ibnul Jarrah. said-

A’mash rah for almost seventy years. (148 A.H.) takbeer Ula did not stop. – Dated Baghdad 10/5, Siyaru A’lamin Nubala 6/228

One of the great Imams of Fiqh Hanafi is Muhammad Ibnu Samaa. (233 AH) said-

For forty years my takbeer has not shortened, except for one day; That day my mother passed away. Therefore, I could not perform the one-time prayer with the congregation. – Dated Baghdad 5/343, Siyaru A’lamin Nubala 10/646

Our Salaf Saliheen was like this regarding prayer. So much importance is given to prayer in Islam. So we should have such care and importance about prayer in our life too.

May prayer be the best deed of our life and the most important act of worship. May Allah grant Tawfeek – Amen.

Prayer is important because it’s a form of service.

Defined as the action of helping or doing work for someone, a system supplying a public need, or to perform routine maintenance or repair work on.

That’s exactly why prayer is important!

We are interceding for others. It’s how we help someone else. Prayer can repair an emotional wound. At its core, prayer is a system that can meet the public’s need.  And it’s the prescribed method for maintaining our spiritual well-being.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others (Philippians 2:3-4).

The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold (Job 42:10).

“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44).

2. Prayer is important because it’s an act of obedience.

We are called to pray.

God designed us for it.

It’s built into our very existence. Because we are created in His image, God’ image, we are to mimic Christ-like behavior. Jesus prayed to remain in the Father’s will. So as Christ imitators prayer is necessary to remain in His will also.

Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray (Mark 1:35).

My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you (John 17:1).

They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary, the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus (Acts 1:14).

Prayer: The most important act of a believer

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer (Acts 2:42).

Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word (Acts 6:4)
